The Sixers Have Officially Quit on Nick Nurse and the Season
If you watched that game on Monday night, god bless you. You should be able to sue for emotional trauma because right now I’d rather fly upside down on Delta than watch the Sixers. At one point they were down 50 to the Bulls. THE BULLS! They gave up 75 points in the first half to a team fighting for a play-in spot! They’ve officially punted on this season and quit on Nick Nurse and he knows it:

The Bulls are up 30 and Nick Nurse can’t believe it 😂 pic.twitter.com/9xfquGvkyL

The only thing a team can control is its energy and there was zero last night. I mean there is no chance you can bring back Nurse and Daryl Morey next season. It’s over. They haven’t won since Daryl Morey said if you squint you can see a championship team. These guys are cooked. Tickets were $2 to get into the building.
Paul George seems like he hates being here just as much as we hate having him:
Paul George: “We’ve shown no sign of a team that will compete. We just don’t have the habits of a champion, or a playoff contending team, would have. To be honest, right now it’s a little far-fetched. All we can do is work hard and try to just keep going.” pic.twitter.com/UE6k1OaI9W

It’s all lip service. He followed, “We don’t have the habits of a playoff contending team” with “All we can do is work hard and try to just keep going.” Just an ironic thing to say in the same breath when you watched that team last night. I’d be shocked if Joel Embiid sees the floor again this season. It’s over. Go hope for a top-6 pick because that’s the only thing fans have to look forward too.
At this point it has to be the organization. I can’t wait for someone to write the book on The Process and the Josh Harris Era. I’ll be the first one in line. I need to know what goes on in there. The decision-making, why they handed out certain contracts, everything. Give me all the dirt! I want blood! Why is this organization like the aliens from Independence Day? You sign with the Sixers, become coach or GM, and you’re going to have every resource in your body harvested from you. Like Embiid’s injury.
According to Marcus Hayes at the Inky a routine rehab is now turning into a potentially “radical” procedure that might require him getting low-dose radiation therapy or breaking his hip bone in surgery:
NBA sources say the big guy has become morose about his latest injury battle as a series of ominous options looms — options that could cost him the rest of this season and maybe some of the next.
The same Sixer who made “orbital bone fracture” and “navicular bone fracture” common phrases in Philadelphia sports lexicon — he’s had two of each — might soon add one of these: meniscus replacement; low-dose radiation therapy; or even the ominous-sounding osteotomy, in which doctors break a bone in the hip to realign the joint to alleviate pressure.
One source called the procedures “radical” in light of the mundane injury and surgery that brought Embiid to this point. For some reason, what should have been a routine rehab and a routine return to play has gone horribly wrong.
Add it to the laundry list of insanity. It needs to be studied.
