Shortly after the Eagles annihilated the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, CBS put out a video in which analyst Pete Prisco was asked which quarterback he would take over the next five years. Prisco claimed he would take Dak Prescott, C.J. Stroud, Baker Mayfield, and Justin Herbert over Jalen Hurts, while calling a Hurts/Trevor Lawrence comparison “even.” Fast forward to this week, and Prisco was dog walked by Philly guy Max Dolente, who produces Barstool’s Pardon My Take:

Max sounds a bit like Brodes at WIP, doesn’t he?

Prisco did pretty good there for a little bit. The Nick Sirianni dig was good. Then he threw it all away when he adjusted his stance and said he’d take Trevor Lawrence over  Jalen Hurts. Why? Because he’s dealt with injuries? Because there hasn’t been enough talent in Duval? Because of coaching changes? You know who else has had a revolving door of coaches, coordinators, and play callers? Jalen Hurts. Hurts played his first season for Doug Pederson, then Sirianni took over and he had two years of Shane Steichen, one year of Brian Johnson, and one year of Kellen Moore. He went to the Super Bowl twice in that time frame and put in elite performances both times.

The argument that the Eagles ran the ball and had the NFL’s best defense doesn’t hold as much weight when you consider that Hurts had a very good passing year when asked to sling it.

He completed 25 of 32 attempts for 290 yards and two touchdowns against the Steelers. No picks. He threw for 246 and a score in the NFC Championship Game. No picks. And in the Super Bowl he made one bad throw on 22 attempts, going 17-22 for 221 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. He also “managed” the game while running for more than 800 yards and 19 touchdowns in the regular + postseason, tush push included. And the only asterisk to add to the tush push is a footnote explaining that other teams can’t do it.

If you wanna argue for Baker Mayfield and Dak Prescott and these other dudes over Jalen Hurts, okay. But Trevor Lawrence? “Come on man!”
