Rollins played 15 years with the Phillies from 2000 to 2014, slashing .267/.327/.424 across those years with 216 home runs, 887 RBIs, 453 stolen bases, and .751 OPS. The star shortstop logged a 47.6 WAR while taking home the Most Valuable Player award in 2007, earning three All-Star Game appearances, four Gold Gloves, a Silver Slugger, and winning the 2008 World Series.
He’ll be the second Phillie from the 2008 team to be inducted into the Wall of Fame. Pat Burrell is the only other player, inducted back in 2015.
Rollins was just down in camp with the Phillies over the last few weeks. Now 46 years old, he’s still fighting his way into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Results haven’t been in Rollins’ favor up to this point, but some people still believe he has an outside chance to find his name in Cooperstown.
Ed Wade will also be inducted into the Wall of Fame this summer. The Phillies Vice President and General Manager from 1998 to 2005, Wade was part of the process of acquiring players like Brett Myers, Chase Utley, Pat Burrell, and more, setting the Phillies up with a young core for their eventual playoff run.
When you think of Phillies legends, you think of Jimmy Rollins. There aren’t many better players than Rollins in the history of the franchise, and now, he gets his name on the Wall of Fame forever.
