At the NFL owners meetings, Jerry Jones said that Micah Parsons’ agent is a non-factor in contract negotiations. He told reporters he doesn’t even know who David Mulugheta is, which is hard to believe since Mulugheta is one of the sport’s top agents. That didn’t sit well with Parsons, who tweeted this:

Parsons is out of contract following this season. He will turn 27 at that point and likely sign with the team he’s always wanted to play for – the Philadelphia Eagles. Maybe Howie Roseman will scoop him up on a one-year prove it deal after the Cowboys go 7-10 in 2025.

But back to the agent thing – Jerry is an idiot. You can say whatever you want to say, and try to remove the agent from the equation, but you can’t. You gotta work with these guys. Mulugheta has some of the best players in the league as his clients. This would be like John Middleton coming out and saying that he doesn’t know who Scott Boras is and that he doesn’t need to be involved in Alec Bohm and Bryson Stott’s next contract negotiations. Then both sign with the LA Dodgers and all of Boras’ remaining clients sign free agent deals with the Mets and Braves. You just can’t do it, Jerry. You can’t disrespect the agent like that. They have a lot of power. Power to reset the market, to leak to the media, and pit teams against each other. If you want the best players, you have to play the game.
