DraftKings Sportsbook Officially Launches in Indiana, and It’s Already The Best App

DraftKings Sportsbook is now officially live in Indiana. Launching today in partnership with Ameristar Casino, DraftKings brings its mobile sportsbook to the state and is one of the first out of the gate for online sports betting in Indiana.

Legal sports betting went into effect in the Hoosier state on September 1, but the launch of DraftKings, along with BetRivers yesterday, kicks off a new era of betting.

The arrival of DraftKings Sportsbook IN comes just in time for the heart of the Notre Dame football schedule, with key matchups against USC and Michigan looming later this month.

It also comes ahead of the Colts’s big prime-time matchup with the Chiefs on Sunday Night Football.

 

DraftKings Brings Its Mobile Sportsbook App to Indiana

Indiana becomes the third state where DraftKings Sportsbook is live, joining New Jersey and West Virginia.

The DraftKings Sportsbook app is available in Indiana on both iOS and Android. Users who sign up here can get their first bet matched up to $200.

The online sportsbook is also available through the web, where players are required to download a third-party geolocation tool to confirm they are in Indiana. This sort of location verification is the norm with legal sports betting as Indiana Gaming Control requires operators to confirm that players are eligible.

 

DraftKings and AmeriStar

DraftKings Sportsbook entered the state through a partnership Penn National Gaming’s Ameristar Casino East Chicago, located just across the border on Lake Michigan.

Indiana’s sports betting laws require third-party brands such as DraftKings to partner with a licensed casino-operator, creating what is called a “skin.” The law allows for such land-based brick-and-mortar casinos to team up with up to three online sportsbooks.

The deal is a win-win deal for both sides as Ameristar Casino partners with one of the industry’s biggest brands, while DraftKings Sportsbook instantly becomes one of the state’s biggest online sports betting players from the jump.

One trend that has jumped out in New Jersey and Pennsylvania is that users love betting on local squads. Philly and Pittsburgh teams draw a ton of action in Pennsylvania, for example.

A similar trend is expected to develop in Indiana with tons of action coming in on games featuring schools like Indiana and Notre Dame, along with pro teams such as the Colts and Pacers.
