The Joel Embiid vs. Karl-Anthony Towns Donnybrook Was Everything and More

So Joel Embiid and KAT went at it tonight. It was a melee. A donnybrook. It could have been a brouhaha. And we even got a MMA-style choke from Ben Simmons to top it off.

It actually started with a double team on Towns and turnover, which saw the Sixers come down the floor in transition. Behind the play, Embiid and KAT got tangled a bit, arm in arm, then they started going at it, with Embiid getting in a shove and an eye poke (intentional or not?) and Towns then throwing a punch.

See for yourself:

Ben Simmons got Towns with what looked like a rear-naked choke, pinning him to the ground in an effort to defuse the situation. The Sixers security guy, who people mistook for Stephen A Smith last season, was out there right away.

It was bonkers:

The “MVP” chant after Embiid walked off shadowboxing was one of the louder chants I’d heard over the past three seasons:

On a serious note, Towns had been playing really well this season, averaging 32 and 13 during the Wolves’ first three games. Embiid did a really nice job on him, holding him to 13 and 5 in 23 minutes of play.

Last word to Kensington’s Eddie Alvarez:
