Checking in on Manny Diaz

You may recall that Manny Diaz took the Temple football job and then quit 17 days later to return to Miami.
Hard to blame the guy, since his dream job opened up suddenly, but it was a dick move nonetheless to leave the Owls hanging. He did apologize after being introduced in Miami.
Quick update on our guy, who is 6-5 this season and coming off a loss to crosstown rival and perennial powerhouse Florida International:

Rough. I kind of feel bad for him after watching that.
Miami had a favorable schedule, too. The ACC Coastal stinks, yet they dropped three conference games by one-score margins. They’ll probably beat Duke in the season finale to go 7-5 and earn a trip to the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl. Should be a barn burner against Kentucky.
Meantime, your Temple Owls are likely going to beat the brakes off UConn and finish 8-4. Good season despite the disappointments in Cincinnati and Buffalo.
