Ron Jaworski Talks Up Hall of Fame Teammate Harold Carmichael

Ron Jaworski threw 53 touchdown passes to Harold Carmichael over seven shared seasons that the quarterback and receiver played for the Philadelphia Eagles. He was the most consistent and dynamic target that Jaws had during his NFL career.
As such, he was emotional on Wednesday morning when hopping on 97.5 the Fanatic with Marc Farzetta, Tra Thomas, and Bob Cooney, sharing his happiness for Carmichael and then going on to talk about how good of a receiver his former teammate was back in the late 1970s and early 1980s:
Jaws threw 47 regular season touchdowns to Carmichael while the pair hooked up for six postseason scores. Carmichael easily tops a list of Jaws’ TD catchers that includes some other fantastic players, among them Mike Quick and Charlie Smith.
Here’s another great Carmichael stat that I missed this morning, courtesy of the Eagles:
In addition to setting a then-NFL record with 127 consecutive games with a reception from 1972-1980, Harold Carmichael led all NFL wide receivers in receptions (549), receiving yards (8,414), and receiving TDs (77) from 1973-83.
I also completely forgot to mention that Steve Sabol also got into the Hall of Fame, posthumously. He won 35 Emmys with NFL Films and was born and raised in Moorestown. Probably should do a separate article on his career.
Kevin has been writing about Philadelphia sports since 2009. He spent seven years in the CBS 3 sports department and started with the Union during the team's 2010 inaugural season. He went to the academic powerhouses of Boyertown High School and West Virginia University. email - k.kinkead@sportradar.com
