Sixers general manager Elton Brand spoke before the end of practice Monday afternoon, taking a moment to share some thoughts on the passing of Kobe Bryant, a player with whom he faced frequently during a 17-year NBA career.

Brand:

Brand, in part:

“He meant a lot. Kobe meant a lot to us. It wasn’t just what he accomplished, but how he accomplished it, how he worked, his tenacity, his passion, getting the most out of his talent. He had Philadelphia roots. We all lost someone who was special to us, special to this area, and special to the league.”

Elton played a large chunk of his career in Los Angeles with the Clippers, sharing the same building and the same locker rooms with Bryant.
