Now this is pretty cool. In an effort to honor the healthcare heroes who have been working on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Phillies are going to make some fine folks the center of attention on Opening Day, sort of.

Per the team, a number of high-res photos of doctors, nurses, and staff wearing their hospital uniforms and/or Phillies gear had been sent to the Phillies as part of the initiative. The 18″x36″ cutouts will be adhered to Diamond Club seats behind home plate.

Phillies Executive Vice President David Buck said of the initiative:

We are proud to honor the countless healthcare heroes who have shown extraordinary care and commitment to our community during this pandemic. As our broadcast cameras capture the “crowd” on Nemours Opening Day, we want our doctors, nurses and healthcare workers to know that we are so grateful for their sacrifice and courage.

Here’s where it gets interesting for the casual fan and season ticket holder: you can get your face plastered on a cutout behind home plate, too. Though there are more details forthcoming, season ticket holders will be able to apply for the opportunity for just $25, while the general public will pay $40. All net proceeds will be benefit Phillies Charities.

The cutouts will make their debut behind home plate during Friday’s 7:05PM game vs. the Miami Marlins.
