Giants’ Nate Solder Opting Out of 2020 Season

Tough decision for Nate Solder, the New York Giants’ starting left tackle.
He’s opting out of the 2020 season because of family medical issues:

Solder overcame testicular cancer about five years ago.
His four-year-old son, Hudson, was diagnosed with cancerous tumors in his kidneys at three months old. The family has traveled back and forth to Boston for chemotherapy sessions, which sounds like an absolutely harrowing ordeal. Solder wrote about it in a fantastic Players Tribune article back in 2018, which is worth a read if you have some time.
As for the Giants, they could replace Solder with first round draft pick Andrew Thomas. Nick Gates is another option, or they could bring in a free agent if necessary.
