“Everybody is Waiting on Carson Wentz to be the First Domino,” Says Adam Schefter

At last check, Adam Schefter reported that the Eagles were expected to trade Carson Wentz “in the coming days.”
That was on February 6th.
So it would seem like Schefter’s sources are the same sources that myriad local types cited when reporting the same exact thing. We were WAITING for the trade to happen, like Judge Smails in Caddyshack, and yet nothing has taken place. That’s because the Eagles are driving the rumor mill as they look for leverage in a Wentz trade.
Anyway, Schefter did his weekly 97.5 the Fanatic call on Wednesday morning, and here are some nuggets from the conversation:
- he does not think the “facts of the story” have changed
- he thinks the Eagles are being “very deliberate in their attempts,” which is slowing a trade
- Carson Wentz is still expected to be traded and “still wants to leave Philadelphia”
- he thinks the Eagles are “continuing to hope” that an offer comes in somewhat randomly, like out of nowhere (at least I think that’s what he was saying)
- RE: the entire quarterback market, Schefter says “everybody is waiting on Carson Wentz to be the first domino,” and then from there other moves will happen
- as far as teams with serious trade interest in Wentz, Schefter says that number is under 3.5
This has been your Carson Wentz update.
We’re waiting.
