Thank you for your service, gentlemen:

Alshon Jeffery… where do we start? Guy made HUGE plays during the Super Bowl season. He had the early touchdown catch in the big game itself, and two scores in the NFC Championship Game. Did all of that while playing with a torn rotator cuff that required surgery after the season.

Then came the Saints drop, the Josina Anderson rumors, and the myriad injuries, which kept from being the same player he was during his first year in Philadelphia. But when we go back and look at it a few years from now, he’s gonna be remembered for the Super Bowl run, and as a player who came here on a ‘prove it’ deal and earned his money via 789 yards and nine regular season touchdowns, to go along with his elite postseason contributions.

As for Malik Jackson, he was supposed to be the 1-2 punch at defensive tackle next to Fletcher Cox, but got injured and only played one game his first season. Last year, he had a couple of sacks, and made some plays, but only started six games and just wasn’t performing at a level to justify the three years, $30 million he originally signed up for.

In releasing these two veterans, the Eagles are gonna save about $4 million. It’s being reported that they’ll both be designated as post-June 1st cuts, so the savings comes in the summer.
