Philadelphia Inquirer Adds Sixers Writer

Let’s give a warm Philadelphia welcome to Gina Mizell:
Some news! Thrilled to share that I’m joining the @PhillyInquirer to cover the Sixers alongside @PompeyOnSixers. I’ll be in Vegas this week to begin my transition, but will officially start closer to training camp.

Mizell joins a revamped Sixers coverage team that includes Keith Pompey and Senior Editor DeAntae Prince. Marc Narducci, who took a summer buyout, worked the Sixers beat this season and wrapped up his Inquirer career after the team’s pitiful second round exit.
According to her Linkedin profile, Mizell worked this past season as a “communications consultant” for the Phoenix Suns. She was laid off by The Athletic after two years covering the Suns independently, and had prior stints writing about the Denver Nuggets, Oregon State football, Oklahoma State football, and the San Diego Padres. She’s an Arizona State Sun Devil and graduated in 2010, so it looks like she’s got a lot more professional experience than other recent Inquirer hires.
If Mizell wants to succeed on the Sixers beat, she must give the fans what they want. They want video clips of Ben Simmons shooting three pointers in an empty gym.
Kevin has been writing about Philadelphia sports since 2009. He spent seven years in the CBS 3 sports department and started with the Union during the team's 2010 inaugural season. He went to the academic powerhouses of Boyertown High School and West Virginia University. email - k.kinkead@sportradar.com
