Reminder: You Can’t Mention a Perfect Game in the Middle of a Perfect Game

Taryn Hatcher does a nice job for NBC Sports Philadelphia, but she offered some questionable commentary during Aaron Nola’s perfect game bid tonight.

Everybody knows that the first rule of a perfect game is you don’t talk about a perfect game.

“I gotta start with this, Ben. Aaron Nola, perfect through six innings thus far.”

Aandddd….one batter later, an easy two-hopper kicks off Brad Miller’s glove. Perfect game over. Two batters later, no-hitter over. Shutout over. Like clockwork.

(Note: It’s not actually her fault.)

Then again, the misery of the above sequence doesn’t even begin to sniff what eventually transpired in the ninth inning.

Or in extra innings.
