Joe Judge Explains Why the Pitiful Giants Ran Back-to-Back QB Sneaks on 2nd and 11 and 3rd and 9

the greatest play of all time

Is this one of the greatest plays of all time?

Or is it the greatest play of all time?

Behold:

For some context here, the Giants took over on their own three yard line following a Washington punt. On first down, Jake Fromm threw incomplete for Elijhaa Penny. They took a timeout, then Penny committed a false start to set up 2nd and 11. They ran a QB sneak on that down, then the QB sneak again on 3rd and 9, and ultimately punted.

This is how Judge explained it after the game:

Washington punted on their ensuing possession after failing to move the ball. New York got the rock back, punted again, and then WFT kicked a field goal to go into the locker room up 6-0.

Regardless, Judge’s thought process there doesn’t make sense from a larger viewpoint. This was a meaningless game at the end of a bad season. You might as well let Fromm try throwing it two more times, or run the ball on second down to try to create some space for a more manageable third down. He can talk about playing for field position, but this amounted to just giving up on the drive and conceding defeat.

Keep in mind, this is the same coach who lectured Doug Pederson for benching Jalen Hurts and essentially throwing that Washington game. Judge said his team will never “disrespect the game” by doing something like that, but running two straight QB sneaks to create punting room is pretty disrespectful to his offense. You’ve got to be kidding me.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – Joe Judge is an absolute disgrace to the great borough of Lansdale. If he ever stops in at Well Crafted Beer Co. or the Sudz laundromat, he should do so wearing a paper bag over his head.
