This is another move where Danny Briere had to circle back and accept a different outcome. First it was trading Kevin Hayes for nothing and retaining half his salary (because of the Torey Krug issue), now it’s waiving DeAngelo outright instead of working out a better return from Carolina.

That’s less than ideal, but it’s also aggressive and somewhat admirable, because if you’re committed to the rebuild, then you get rid of guys that aren’t part of the future, and you do that by whatever means necessary. In this case, when Noah Cates filed for arbitration, it opened up a second buyout window and now TDA is gone.

Whatever it takes. In Danny B we trust. It’s a new era of orange.
