Sixers’ New City Edition Jerseys are an Ode to Reading Terminal Market and Small Business

The Sixers released their new City Edition jerseys, inspired by Reading Terminal Market:
Great idea and it gets more pub for small businesses at Reading Terminal. The Sixers have always done a good job with small business dating back to the pandemic and their future plans to include local Chinatown businesses in the new arena development. This year they’ll be highlighting a new business in the market each game day, via press release:
“Celebrating Reading Terminal Market will be a theme throughout the upcoming season, as the 76ers will support a number of small, local businesses from Reading Terminal Market as part of their Spirit of Small Business program, presented by Fulton Bank. This initiative is designed to combat the larger systemic issue of equal access for the small business community across Greater Philadelphia. Each 76ers’ gameday, the team will promote a local small business on its social and digital platforms, giving the business visibility to millions of fans who enjoy 76ers basketball across the world.”
After that, James Harden will do a weekly food challenge at a different location until he eats his way out of Philadelphia.
Here are my thoughts on the jersey –
I typically hate every single new City Edition jersey since the Boathouse Row ones… until I see players wearing them and they look really good on TV. Having a frumpy business owner or the blue dog model them doesn’t really have the same effect on me as watching Tyrese Maxey fly through the air with it on. So I reserve the right to take back what I’m about to say.
The arrows down the side are a nice touch, the “Brotherly” section is a nice ode to Reading Terminal, but the other typography that sandwiches it stinks. Did the Sixers forget the deadline was coming up for new jerseys and just slapped something together? It’s the same one, just a slightly different style, from last year – except worse:
Which is actually a great metaphor for this year’s team. The same one as last year, just worse. The best player in the NBA is going to be wearing this with a pair of Skechers on his feet this year. It is a sad time to be a Sixers fan.
Lets see what Sixers fans think:

I wish I could light this jersey on fire. While I’m wearing it.

These are tough. Everyone hated the drop last year then they grew on everyone.
Sixers city Jerseys some of the best in the league.

All over the place, as you’d expect.
P.S. My favorite part of the whole release was the hostage photo they took with this Asian couple. The PR team’s eyes must’ve lit up when they saw Mr. Wang. Couldn’t get a jersey in his hand fast enough:
