It was spoken into existence:

Good trade. Attach some draft picks to Terrell Edmunds to upgrade the safety position.

Byard is a 2x All Pro and 2x Pro Bowler, both of those coming in 2017 and 2021. He can play a bit of everything in the secondary and will line up in various spots – free safety, strong safety, slot, etc. In six games this season he has 47 tackles and a fumble recovery and finished last year with four interceptions and six pass break ups. He’s 30 years old now and his contract is described this way by Over the Cap:

“Kevin Byard renegotiated his contract with the Titans in 2023, reducing his salary by $3.1 million and having $7 million of his remaining salary guaranteed as a signing bonus. In 2024 Byard can earn a $4 million roster bonus in March. The final two years of the contract are void years for cap purposes. The new contract reduced Byard’s salary cap number by $8.35 million in 2023.”

Looks like the Titans did the same thing Howie Roseman does with all of his contracts. Void contract stuff on the back end.

But yeah, great addition. Byard can play, and he’s a Philly native, too. Born here, then moved to Georgia as a teenager and went to Middle Tennessee State. Byard will partner Reed Blankenship at the safety spot, which is a quality duo.
