Flyers prospect Oliver Bonk and Team Canada are going home in a shocking upset in the World Juniors quarterfinals. The Czechs potted a last second winner that bounced off of Bonk’s stick:

Me watching this on repeat:
Don’t worry I’ll give myself a personal bonk:
This is how you ingratiate yourself into the Orange and Black! Make the road easier for the USA! Ollie Bonk has now skyrocketed up my board of Flyers prospects to watch, sandwiched between Matty Michkov and Cutter Gauthier. If you make it easier for the USA to win in anything, you automatically have a fan for life.
Admittedly, I’m not a hockey guy and there’s a good chance you aren’t either. But what I’m gathering is that the World Juniors is like if all the best college basketball players and G League prospects under 20 years old got together and played for their countries. So this would be like a young Furkan Korkmaz committing a goaltending violation for Turkey in the last second and losing them the game – if somehow Turkey became a basketball superpower. Does that comparison make sense? Something tells me that doesn’t make any sense. Who cares. Canada is out and Cutter Gauthier and the US of A have an easier road to the championship! It’s coming home!
P.S. The craziest part of the story is Bonk’s dad, Radek, played for the Czech team. Is there a sleeper agent in Team Canada?
Kinkead: I feel like “Czechia” is a new thing, but apparently they’ve been calling it that since 2016. That’s wild. Shout out to Jake Voracek.
