This Should be the Front Cover of the Eagles’ 2023 Yearbook

I’ve changed my mind. Instead of DeVonta Smith getting injured on a 3rd and 19 Kenneth Gainwell bubble screen, the front cover of the Eagles’ 2023 yearbook will instead be this photo:

It’s perfect. There is no better snapshot of this Eagles’ season.
Here’s Jalen Hurts under pressure with the Eagles asking six guys to block seven defenders. Four Eagles receivers are 1v1 on the outside, but not a single one is looking for the football and not a single route comes even close to the middle of the field. There is no sight adjustment, no hot route, no blitz beater, nothing in that family of concepts.* Jalen heaves it to the right on this play, with DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert five yards away from each other.
*EDIT – looks like the players fucked up, which makes this even more appropriate than it already was:
DeVonta Smith said the offense had problems again with the small details.
He says on the first third-and-2, he and Dallas Goedert both saw “something completely different” when Jalen Hurts checked at the line
“It was two different signals. We seen one and didn’t see the other.”

Regardless, it falls incomplete and they punt. Your 2023 Philadelphia Eagles! Go Birds!
