Let’s get it back to hockey with some Nick Seeler news:
The Flyers continue to make progress on a contract extension with veteran defenceman Nick Seeler.

As @DarrenDreger reported, #Flyers are making progress on an extension with defenseman Nick Seeler. But he’s going to miss a couple weeks of action after blocking a shot against #stlblues on Monday night.

Seeler is on IR. He blocked a shot in the ankle/foot area against St. Louis the other night and tried to re-enter the game, but couldn’t do it.
Contract-wise, he’s in the second year of a deal that pays $775,000, then becomes a free agent. He turns 31 in June and has been the subject of trade talks along with fellow 30-ish teammate Sean Walker. If the Flyers are indeed rebuilding, one of the two probably gets shipped out, especially if a team like Edmonton is dangling a late 1st round draft pick. The deadline is 3 p.m. on Friday, so we’ll find out soon, but with Seeler on IR now, it’s hard to see him being moved.
EDIT 3:30 P.M. – it’s done:
It’s a life-changing, $10.8 million contract extension for 30-year-old #Flyers defenseman Nick Seeler.
He almost hung up his skates a few years ago. He was playing on a two-way deal that guaranteed him $375,000 this season.
4 yrs x $2.7 mil, with $2.5 mil in signing bonuses.
