Nick Nurse has Not Considered Bringing Tobias Harris Off the Bench

The Knicks and Sixers hit the under again on Tuesday night, though it was Philly contributing most to that number with 79 pitiful points in a 37.5% shooting effort. Tobias Harris scored two points on 1-6 shooting in 26 minutes and Nick Nurse was asked about bringing his 39 million dollar player off the pine:
Asked Nick Nurse if he has considered bringing Tobias Harris off the bench.
“Nope, not yet.”

Harris put up a line that’s almost impossible to comprehend for someone earning his money and playing without the high-usage MVP teammate on the floor. He was a -20 in those 26 minutes, scored one field goal, went 0-2 from three, threw one assist, grabbed three rebounds and stole the ball twice. Even Ben Simmons on his worst days found a way to put more than two points on the board, and it wasn’t like the Sixers were playing the ’96 Bulls on Tuesday night. They were playing a half-decent Knicks team.
Tobias played a couple of great games in a row when the Sixers had a win/win weekend against Charlotte and Dallas not long ago. He had 59 points on 24-38 shooting and really excelled at the three point line. Since the Mavs road game, he’s had point totals of 18, 8, 21, 11, and 2. He shot 25% at home against Memphis was 9-19 in the NOLA failed comeback in which the Sixers were run off the floor in the first half. In his last five games, he’s 2-18 from deep.
If the regular season ended today, the Sixers would be the 7th seed and preparing for the play-in tournament. The good thing is that there’s only two games separating fourth and seventh in the East, but the Sixers are 7-12 without Joel Embiid and they’ve got a tough March schedule. Someone get the flex tape because the boat is taking on water, and quickly.
