Benches Clear After Jeff McNeil Takes Umbrage with a Rhys Hoskins Slide into Second

Not exactly Chase Utley and Ruben Tejada here, but Rhys Hoskins caused the benches to clear in New York after this slide into second base:

Oh baby! Baseball is back.
Mets fans on social media of course think Hoskins is a dirty Philadelphia player. “Once a Phillie, always a Phillie.” Stuff like that. What’s funny is that half of the internet thinks it’s a clean slide and the other half thinks it’s a bullshit play. Rhys does slide late, and he catches McNeil in the ankle, but he’s straight on the base path and not going out of his way to break up a double play. The guys on the Mets broadcast call it a clean by letter of the law.
Regardless, the Mets are incredibly corny.
