Phillies Make it Through the All-Star Game Unscathed

All-Star Game recap:
- no injuries
- Trea Turner got a hit
- Bryce Harper got a hit
- Alec Bohm got a hit
- Cristopher Sanchez threw two pitches and got two outs
- Matt Strahm threw five pitches
- Jeff Hoffman threw four pitches
- Zack Wheeler and Ranger Suarez did not participate
Throw in Bohm going to the semifinals of the Home Run Derby and this was the best anyone could have hoped for. You got through unscathed, everyone played well, and we got some quality viral moments on social as well. Sure, you have some fans who didn’t want Bohm in the Derby because they think it might mess him up in the second half. That’s probably because the memory of Bobby Abreu crushing home runs and then watching his swing go to shit is still vivid even 20 years later. Other Phillies Derby participants were not affected, so we’re hoping Abreu was a one-off experience and that Bohm returns ready to go.
They’re back with a six-game road swing on Friday. Three in Yinzerville and three in Minnesota. Then it’s probably the toughest stretch of the entire schedule to date. Guardians and Yankees at home, Mariners on the road, then over to the Dodgers and D Backs. Respite then comes with six against Miami and Warshington at home.
Some clips:
Alec Bohm: “How’d that belt feel?”
Trea Turner: “Brutal. That’s why I don’t wear these things.”
