Howard Eskin Still Not on the Radio

Howard Eskin was not on 94 WIP Saturday morning, missing his third straight week since the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that he had been suspended from Citizens Bank Park for making an “unwanted advance” toward a female Aramark employee.

WIP has played various iterations of “greatest hits” programming in recent weeks to cover Howard’s time slot. They replayed the Dan Hilferty and John Middleton interview with Glen Macnow and Mike Sielski, then last week replayed Macnow’s appearance with DeCamara and Ritchie ahead of his retirement show. The Inquirer had previously reported that “Eskin will remain on air, according to sources,” though he has not appeared on the radio at all since the incident was first made public back on July 3rd.

Audacy has not issued any kind of statement on the matter beyond telling the Inquirer:

A spokesperson for Audacy, the parent company of WIP-FM and Eskin’s employer, confirmed the “unwelcome kiss” in a statement, adding that the company takes these matters very seriously.

“We immediately investigated and took action to address the matter,” read the statement from the Audacy spokesperson, who declined to comment further.

From an optics perspective, keeping Howard off the air last week made sense because you had Macnow’s retirement show coming up at 10 a.m. It could have been awkward to let Eskin be the lead-in to that show. This week is Rob Ellis and Sielski’s Saturday debut, so maybe there was a consideration there, but I have no clue. Regardless, the longer Audacy keeps Howard off the air without any kind of further comment only adds to the number of people scratching their head and wondering what’s going on. Right now, he’s suspended from Citizens Bank Park and the Sixers practice facility.
