More important than anything from Saturday night’s preseason game was Sean Couturier stepping up for Matty Michkov when some Boston douchebag went after him:

Let it be known that anyone messing with Michkov is asking for a knuckle sandwich. And Coots isn’t even a fighter. It’s not like they sent Donald Brashear after this “Sweezy” guy, the non-fighting captain went over to take care of the situation. Even if he’s not the first choice melee participant, it’s good to see him snuff this out right away, in the preseason. Don’t let these other teams even starting dicking around with Michkov on the ice; go out there and protect your guy and allow him to play his game. If any of these stiffs even think about it, it’s gonna look like UFC Noche at Wells Fargo Center. Good job by COOTS, just don’t re-aggravate the back while pummeling some guy.
