Cowboys Reportedly Denied a Bears Request to Interview Mike McCarthy

Schefter I think was first on this, but Rap Sheet elaborated a bit on Mike McCarthy’s future:

McCarthy’s contract expires next week. Based on what’s floating around out there, the indication is that Jerry Jones will bring him back. He’s one of those owners who always waits until the last minute and he doesn’t make knee jerk coaching changes. This is the same guy who let Jason Garrett run his team for 10 years.
The real question is whether or not McCarthy wants to be back. Dallas was butt this season and lost Dak Prescott early, but we all know the head coach isn’t the biggest problem down there. It’s Jerry. Mike McCarthy didn’t give Dak $240 million. He wasn’t responsible for the CeeDee Lamb holdout situation. He ripped off three-straight 12-5 seasons and the reason they lost to the Packers in the postseason is because Dan Quinn’s defense put up the resistance of Swiss cheese at Jerry World. The previous season, when they scored 12 points against the Niners, Kellen Moore was still the offensive coordinator. McCarthy wasn’t calling the plays.
Point being, you could probably have prime Don Shula coaching that team and he’d still bump his head on the ceiling. As long as Jerry is in charge, the Cowboys are limited, and the Eagles are in good shape. The Giants will stink again in 2025 and we just have to fend off the Commies in the division. The outlook is good.
