Let’s hear from the man himself following his trade to the Texans:

CJGJ thought it was April Fool’s – “Wasn’t no bad blood, it was a great phone call. Great phone call. Amazing phone call to be all the way thorough… situation is them young guys gotta be paid in Philly. Jalen Carter, Reed (Blankenship), Zack (Baun), all them guys get their money they deserve it, me getting older I gotta understand. There was no bad blood. Shit… I just wanna go somewhere where I can play winning football. I didn’t ask for a specific place.”

Good to hear, or else we would have had a Taylor Swift and Kanye West situation on our hands.

If we’re taking the explanation at face value, that this purely a financial decision, then yeah, okay, fair enough. This is a young defense and these guys need to be locked up. CJGJ wasn’t breaking the bank, but the cap hit was increasing in each of the next two years, right around the same time half the D is coming off their rookie contracts. Can’t pay everyone, so you have to be assertive now and start to plan ahead.

And if the Eagles had a problem with CJGJ being rough around the edges, for instance, telling Swifties to “LIX” his balls, then I guess we’ll never know. But do we need to know? Doesn’t matter IMO. CJGJ is a Super Bowl champion and always will be. Belt to ass. BTA! BTA! BTA!
