Nick Sirianni spoke to reporters Tuesday morning, looking like me after a stomach virus wiped out the Kinkead household:

Where did the Goedert thing come from? It was fan and media generated, basically just identified as an opportunity to get off of a big cap number, almost $12 million in 2025. Goedert is 30 years old and heading into the final season of the $57 million extension he signed coming off his rookie deal back in 2021. Like most Eagles starters, he’s got the Howie Roseman void years tagged on to his contract.
The thing with Goedert is he’s missed more than a dozen games due to injury going back to 2022. He’s a legitimate TE1 when healthy, but the Birds are using this offseason to straighten out the cap and turn the page a bit and free up some resources to allocate to all of the young studs that will need long-term deals sooner rather than later. That’s why the Goedert rumors are as loud as they are. If you can fetch an asset in return and lighten the books a bit, it’s something they will consider.
