“Sir, another Ben Simmons summer workout video has hit the timeline” –

Like clockwork, every year, a video of Ben Simmons making 15 jumpers in a row and dominating no one at a random gym has arrived shortly before 4th of July. Now summer can officially start!
I think we’re on the fifth summer in a row of revenge:
I love watching Ben work on threes when he hasn’t shot one in four seasons. Always keep them guessing. Never let them know your next move. Is this the year he starts hoisting them? It’s the unknown that can’t make me quit this guy.
You know what? It’s a slow June summer day. How about we take a trip down memory lane? Think of it as some sort of therapy. A sort of trauma bonding that us Sixers, Nets, and one day Clippers fans can do. It’s important to attack your problems head on. Last summer, the same gym was featured:
I can’t lie. When I saw this in 2023 I got a little nervous. Did you see that 40-footer? I thought he’d just say screw it and start launching next season. He’s already rich. The Nets were going to stink. Who cares? –
Then you watch it again and you realize he’s dominating a bunch of nobodies playing token defense and going at 50% speed. It was eerie how quiet that entire run was. These are one of those pick-up games that if you make one backdoor cut everyone gets mad at you for trying too hard. Just the most boring game of pick-up I’ve ever seen.
Bonus points for Ben’s team because we also got this picture of him looking absolutely JACKED. I’m telling you, the summer of 2023 spooked me:
Shockingly, I couldn’t find much from 2022. This was the season after he was traded to the Nets. He was probably rehabbing his back (playing COD) all summer and didn’t have time to make one.
The summer of 2021 was a big one. This one came out after the loss to the Hawks in Game 7 and Ben requested a trade from the Sixers with four years still left on his deal. These two have been studied, scrutinized, and picked apart more than the video of the JFK Assassination:
In 2020 we got a little taste. Nothing crazy, just a couple dunks after a workout that gave the Ben fans a little something for them to show the detractors. At this point, Sixers fans on both sides of the coin were exhausted:
I’d love to say in 2019 these were better times, but they weren’t. You saw everything he could do in the summer and wondered why he never did it in a game. Frustrating doesn’t even begin to describe it:
So there you have it. The complete history of Ben Simmons’ summer workout videos. Cinema that will be studied and debated for centuries long after we’re gone.
