Cristopher Sanchez Fans 12 Red Sox in Dominant Complete Game

Cristopher Sanchez tossed his third career complete game on Tuesday night, as the Phillies beat the Red Sox 4-1 to clinch the series.
The lefty was masterful, fanning 12 batters and allowing just four hits, one of them being a solo home run in the fourth inning.
Sanchez had six 1-2-3 innings. Other than the home run, a Red Sox player didn’t touch third base all night. He had 19 swing and misses, 14 via changeup. We may need to start having conversations about Sanchez’s changeup being the best pitch in all of baseball.
Rob Thomson spoke after the game about how cool it is watching his starter get the standing ovation as he walked out to finish the game. Thomson confirmed that they were going batter-to-batter with Sanchez in the 9th. If the Red Sox got a baserunner, Sanchez was probably out, but that didn’t happen.
Max Kepler and Kyle Schwarber gave Sanchez some runs, both hitting home runs after a crazy play in the top of the 1st that involved Bryce Harper stealing home. They didn’t technically count it a steal, instead, it was catcher’s interference on Carlos Narvaez for the second time in two games:
What we’re watching from Sanchez is remarkable. Tuesday night was the third double-digit strikeout game of 2025, and the sixth of his career.
Sanchez is now down to a 2.40 ERA in 124 innings. From a pitcher that was maybe a fourth starter a few years ago, he’s established himself as the best left-handed pitcher in the National League and a true ace in the Phillies rotation.
