We Had an Outrageous Karen Situation After a Phillies Home Run in Miami

The Phillies bats were alive in Miami on Friday night, but the most attention was on the crowd following Harrison Bader’s fourth inning home run. Bader launched a 410-foot dinger over the fence, going back-to-back with Brandon Marsh, leading to a mad scramble in the crowd:
We got a better view of the ball chase from an alternate angle of the NBC Sports broadcast, which was posted by @PhilsTailgate on Twitter/X:
So what appears to be the situation is the home run ball hit the lady in the white Phillies jersey just about in the hands. She was unable to come up with the catch and the ball dropped a row in front of her, leading to the man in the red Phillies shirt to scoop it up and bring it back to (presumably) his son. This offended the lady, who marched right over and scolded the man, who eventually gave in and handed her the ball with a very satisfying ‘get out of here’ type of wrist flick.
To give a ruling, I am 100% on the side of the guy in the red shirt. It’s another story if she caught the ball clean and he stole it from her. But it is not this man’s fault that she has the hands of Nelson Agholor. If the ball hits the ground it is 100% fair game. The lady marching over and getting in his face took the moment from the dad feeling like a hero to his son to a completely unnecessary argument. However, him putting up the dukes in surprise is 10/10 funny.
The bigger flag on the play is to get this upset about a home run baseball in general. If you’re the lady in white, you have to chalk this one up to the love of the game and move on with things. To make matters worse, it does not even appear as though she has any kids with her, so let the dad have his moment.
Shoutout to the Marlins for making the situation right and hooking up the kid whose ball got taken away with a prize pack and baseballs. Very cool way to make the situation, which should not even have been a situation in the first place, right:
