  • The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reported nearly $50 million in total August sports betting revenue
  • Pennsylvania reported a nearly 64% increase compared with August 2024 revenue totals
  • Online sports betting contributed more than $45 in total revenues for the month

Pennsylvania sports betting ended the summer on a strong note as the Keystone State moves into the lucrative football seasons.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reported commonwealth sports betting customers bet $515,446,826 on sports in August, a 6.21% increase from the August 2024 handle total of $485,289,137.

The Keystone State reported a nearly 64% increase in PA online sports betting adjusted gross gaming revenue, putting an end to the typically slower summer months as the state gears up for the most profitable time of the year with football.

Revenues Increase Compared With 2024 Summer

The gaming control board reported $49,151,040 in total taxable revenue figures for August 2025. The state reported a nearly $9 million increase in total sports betting revenues compared with last month, but saw a nearly 64% increase in revenue compared with August 2024 totals.

The board reported just a little over $30 million in total taxable revenue in Pennsylvania during August 2024.

Tax revenues generated from sports betting during August 2025 was $17,694,374, a more than 21% increase from the July 2025 tax revenue total of $14,608,351.

Revenues should continue to increase in Pennsylvania’s sports betting market, as both the NFL and college football seasons began in September. States and operators typically make the majority of their sports betting revenues during these seasons.

FanDuel, DraftKings Continue Pennsylvania Dominance

FanDuel and DraftKings continued their dominance of the Keystone State, far outpacing the other licensed sports betting operators in terms of both handle and sports betting revenues. FanDuel reported $171.7 million in sports betting handle with $18.7 million in total gross revenues, while DraftKings notched $147.2 million in total handle for the month and $12.2 million in total gross revenues.

FanDuel handle increased by nearly $31 million in August when compared with July, while total gross revenues also increased by more than $3.3 million as well. DraftKings experienced a nearly $35 million increase in August when compared with July for total sports betting handle, as well as a $1.2 million increase in total gross revenues.
