Sixers PR Staff Sends 3:48 A.M. Injury Update, Signaling that the Regular Season is Close (UPDATE)

Jared McCain update:
Jared McCain yesterday underwent successful surgery to repair a UCL tear in his right thumb. The surgery was performed by Dr. Michelle Carlson at HSS.
McCain will be reevaluated in approximately four weeks. Further updates will be provided as appropriate.
This hit the inbox at 3:48 a.m., which is crazy. Does the PR staff have a third shift worker now? Did they schedule this just to troll us? Is Dave Sholler sending press releases from Hawai’i? (UPDATE – I’m an idiot and forgot they are in Abu Dhabi. Shows how much I’ve been paying attention to the Sixers. But the Hawai’i line was a good one I think)
The dreaded “will be reevaluated” appears in this email. How many times do you think that’s been written into Sixers press releases over the years? A hundred times? A thousand times? One million times? Feels like a million. Usually it’s “will be reevaluated in two weeks,” which I think is copied to the PR staff’s clipboard. This time they had to adjust it for four weeks, which is lovely.
Four weeks from now is, well, November 1st! Or October 29th, to be more specific. That means McCain will miss the entire preseason and the first four games of the regular season, which is Boston, Charlotte, Orlando, and Washington. Of course, there will probably be a “ramping up” period where he has to get himself shooting reps make sure he’s in game shape, so tack on a week or so there, assuming the “reevaluation” shows them what they need to see. My estimation is that Jared McCain makes his Sixers debut on Tuesday, December 2nd, vs. the Warshington Wizards. This is just total speculation.
The good thing is that McCain is already in midseason form:
