A.J. Brown spoke on Wednesday, about three days after he posted a CRYPTIC bible verse following a two-catch day against the Bucs:

You know why this doesn’t mean anything? Because we’ve been doing it with A.J. Brown for two full years now. We had the early 2024 thing when he called up WIP to clear the air, then the Brandon Graham comments after the Panthers game, and what was the lasting negative impact of each incident? Nothing. The Eagles went on the greatest run in franchise history and won their second Super Bowl. This was many months after assorted talking heads and dramatic fans declared that A.J. had played his last game for the Birds.

Now they’ve won 20 of their last 21 games, and the one loss was a game that Jalen Hurts didn’t finish.

So it’s hard to get upset about this one way or another because we’ve seen this movie before. It’s pretty obvious that A.J. is a competitor and wants to be involved. Even playing 13 games last season he still had 1,079 yards and seven touchdowns, bolstered by strong performances in the NFC Championship Game and Chiefs beatdown.

You know who else is a competitor and wants to be involved? DeVonta Smith. He has only eight more yards than Brown this season despite receiving seven fewer targets. They both have one touchdown. And as we pointed out on Monday, A.J. Brown was targeted nine times in Tampa. The targets were just poor. Hurts threw two go balls out of bounds and those are normally high-level explosive plays for the Birds, so you move on to Week 5 hoping they’ll get the kinks ironed out, just like they did last year en route to a Lombardi Trophy:
