the journey that never happened (Philadelphiaeaglescruise.com)

If you didn’t hear, they’re building a cruise port in the Delaware River right by the airport. First time in 20 years for a cruise ship terminal. Huge news for your aunt and uncle! No more using air or land just to get to the sea. Now we have our own cruise port we can use to get to tropical destinations like Bermuda and Charleston, which is the Bermuda of the East Coast, some are saying!

Charleston rules, but whose big brain idea was to make it one of the two destinations? It’s a two-hour flight from PHL. Does Myrtle Beach not have the capability?

I don’t know how many people are hopping on a cruise to go see where Southern Charm is filmed. I guess after looking at a map for the first time in forever it’s a landing spot to stretch your sea legs before making the rest of the trek to Bermuda off the coast, but I’m not a captain.

Anyway, if your girl or family want to go on a cruise, at least you don’t have to jump on a plane to Miami or drive down to Baltimore starting in 2026. Solid cruise line to start, too. Norwegian, from what I hear, is a little better than Royal Caribbean and head and shoulders better than the Spirit Airlines of the water, Carnival.

The last time there was a cruise line in Philly was back in 2010 when NCL and Royal Caribbean used to do about 12 trips a year out of the Navy Yard. Then the recession happened and people were looking for cheaper places to travel so they shut it down. But now we’re back baby! Batten down the hatches! How long until Phans of Philly offers an Eagles cruise with a special guest Philadelphia Eagle? Tomorrow? Can you imagine a bunch of Kelly Green riding down the Delaware River to declare war on the Dolphins? It would basically be a floating Jetro Lot. There wouldn’t be enough alcohol on the boat for that trip. I’ve got the perfect captain:

There was supposed to be an Eagles cruise back in 2021, when 4,000 Eagles fans embarked on a voyage from New Jersey to the Bahamas with former Eagles players, according to Ray Sanchez at CNN Travel:

Former Eagles linebacker Ike Reese, in a promotional video, said some 4,000 fans will set out to sea with former players like Harold Carmichael, Jeremiah Trotter, David Akers, Vince Papale, and Mike Quick, according to the cruise website.

The website bills the journey as “the utmost riveting experience shared by the most passionate fans in football.”

The cruise will set sail from Cape Liberty, New Jersey, with stops at Cape Canaveral and Coco Cay and Nassau in the Bahamas, according to the site.

But then that whole pandemic thing happened so it was canceled. Think they planned for a jail on board?
