We’re blessed with a football 2-fer on Saturday evening, as the Philadelphia Eagles look to win the NFC East down in Warshington (5 p.m.) before the Villanova Wildcats host the Illinois State Redbirds in the FCS playoff semifinals (7:30 p.m.)

With temps in the mid-30s at kickoff, Nova is rolling out $2 beers and $2 dogs:

Oh baby! They’re going to be oiled up on the Main Line. The visiting fans from wherever Illinois State is located will have no idea what they’re walking into. This ain’t UC Davis. This ain’t North Dakota State inside the Fargodome. This is outdoor Pennsylvania football in December! This is Villanova Stadium on a Saturday night! I better see the students leave their quarter zips at home and come out and give the Redbirds players absolute hell.

I think this solidifies Villanova as a Philly school. Not only did the 2018 team play 12 home games at the Wells Fargo Center during their title-winning season, but now the football games have better beer and hotdog specials than the Phillies do. This atmosphere is gonna make Temple vs. UTSA at the Linc look like a Methacton game. The only problem is that this should extend beyond the 1st quarter. $2 beers and $2 dogs for the first half at the very least. Who says no?

Go Cats Go.
