Tocchet Bowl: Canucks vs. Flyers Has Perfect Setup for a Low-Scoring Game

The Canucks and Flyers both enter Monday’s game in weird spots.

The Flyers are playing their last home game of 2025, have lost four of five, and are about to embark on the annual holiday road trip. Vancouver is at the end of its own road swing. The Canucks are 4-0 on their east coast trip, but this is also their last game before the holidays.

On top of all that, there’s a pretty good goalie matchup in place with Dan Vladar going up against Thatcher Demko. That’s a good reason for the Over 5.5 to have less juice at -102 at BetMGM than the Under 5.5 at -118.

Demko’s allowed two goals across his last three starts and comes into Philly with a 2.34 GAA and .913 save percentage. Vladar’s been equally as good with a 2.41 GAA and a .910 save percentage.

Vladar held his last four opponents to seven total goals, so this would be a perfect time for the Flyers to reverse their recent form and set the tone for the road trip with a win. They’re a -135 money line favorite at BetMGM, which is a solid number as the home team in what is viewed as a fairly level matchup.

Neither of these teams have been overwhelming offensive powerhouses over the course of the season. Vancouver is only averaging 26.4 shots on goal per game, while the Flyers sit at 25.1.

Demko made 23, 23, and 25 saves in his three wins during the Canucks’ current streak. He sits at Over/Under 22.5 saves at bet365 for Monday’s game.

Someone obviously has to shoot the puck just in general. Vancouver gives up the third-most SOG per game to centers and seventh-most SOG per game to left wingers. Their defensive data has been better over the last week, but the overarching trends still matter.

Sean Couturier fits the matchup trends the best out of the Flyers skaters. He’s had nine shots on goal over the last three games. Coots’ SOG prop sits at O/U 1.5 at bet365. I’d take a look at the Over at -115.

For NJ and PA sports betting apps, I’d also look into Coots to have a point at +128 at bet365. If the Flyers are going to score, it’s probably going to be from the Coots line with Denver Barkey and Owen Tippett. Barkey had two points in his debut on Saturday and Tippett has a point in two of his last three games.

Trevor Zegras is the only other Flyers player I’d look into for props. He’s on a seven-game point streak and he’s -175 at bet365 to record a point against the Canucks.
