The Hawk Will Never Die, But it Needs Veterinary Attention After Deuce Jones Exits SJU Basketball Program for Undisclosed Reasons
They’re not happy about this on Hawk Hill:
Aaron Bracy asked Steve Donahue about Jones’ continued absence (missed the last two games), and Donahue only said it was a “personal situation.” Nobody has reported anything concrete on this, just some rumours floating around.
Jones is the reigning A10 Rookie of the Year and SJU leading scorer. 15.8 points per game over 10 games total, 4.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game. The Hawks are 7-5 and have one more cupcake on the schedule before beginning conference play at Saint Louis on New Year’s Eve.
I’m not saying the Hawk is dead, because The Hawk Will Never Die, but it’s been struggling bigly over the last year. It’s currently at Hawk Mountain Sanctuary in Kempton receiving treatment. Billy Lange left the program suddenly to do whatever he’s doing for the Knicks right now. Then SJU pivoted quickly and was able to land Donahue after he was fired by Penn (edit: I am an idiot and forgot they brought him on the staff before Lange left). The program continues on, but is treading water and needs a shot in the arm. They had a couple of years to usurp Nova during the Kyle Neptune era and kind of flopped, despite having some decent squads and some really good guards.
We will update the story when Deuce Jones information becomes available. This is a developing story!
