Oh Good, Now the Mets Have a Competent Starting Rotation
Mets continue to swing for the fences:
The Mets’ rotation was the weak spot up until Wednesday night. Now they go out and trade for the guy who finished fifth in the Cy Young voting while the Brewers commit to being a poverty franchise. What’s that all about? They finish with the best record in baseball and then ship their ace to the Mets? And yet somehow they find a way to maintain consistency despite rarely crossing into the top half of the MLB payroll table. As stupid as it is, they seem to make these types of moves all the time and keep the wheels turning.
Either way, the Mets got aggressive this offseason while the Phillies did not. But the caveat is that the Mets won 83 games and missed the playoffs while the Phils won 96 games and wrapped up the division early. So nobody should be surprised that the Mutts really went for it with Peralta, Bo Bichette, Luis Robert Jr., Luke Weaver, Jorge Polanco, Marcus Semien, and Devin Williams. They’re going to look like a much different team after flipping half the roster and moving on from guys like Pete Alonso, Brandon Nimmo, and the annoying Jeff McNeil.
