Paul George Tied the Sixers Record for Most Threes in a Single Game
PAUL GEORGE:
Looked like vintage PG out there on Tuesday night in a 139-122 win against the Giannis-less Milwaukee Bucks. Doc Rivers (probably) told reporters after the game that it was a “schedule loss” and blamed the laundry team for not ironing the jerseys properly.
According to the Sixers PR staff, George’s 9-15 mark ties the Sixers record for the most three-pointers in a single game, alongside:
- Tyrese Maxey: 9 for 12 vs. Raptors on October 28th, 2022
- Danny Green: 9 for 21 vs. Heat on January 12th, 2021
- Dana Barros: 9 for 12 vs. Suns on January 27th, 1995
The Danny Green game was absolutely ridiculous. Not sure if you remember, but it was an overtime home game with the pandemic still lingering and both teams played an eight-man rotation months before you’d typically shorten the bench. Danny played 50 minutes (!), shot 10-25 from the floor, and finished 9-21 from three. Joel Embiid had 45, 16, and 4, while Ben Simmons chipped in five points on 2-2 shooting (with, of course, 12 assists). The Sixers bench consisted of Dwight Howard, Isaiah Joe, and Dakota Mathias.
Going back to 1995, the Dana Barros year was special. He shot 46.4% from three and was named an All-Star and the league’s most-improved played. The team, unfortunately, stunk, and finished with 24 wins under John Lucas. They fired Lucas a season later and drafted a point guard out of Georgetown named Allen Iverson.
