Snubbed Joel Embiid Probably Gonna Replace Giannis in the All-Star Game Anyway

We’ll have six more weeks of winter after Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow on Monday morning. What an asshole!

Meantime:

Joel Embiid should be on the list. The only reason he isn’t is because he’s played 28 of the Sixers’ 48 games, as of publication. That’s 58.3%. But most of these guys are not doing anything close to what Joel is doing statistically, which is averaging 26 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 4 assists per game. Embiid’s January was better than anything that Duren, Barnes, Siakam, or KAT have done this season. Knicks fans get on Twitter every night and talk about trading KAT, so that tells you all you need to know about his current NBA status.

But – we don’t need Joel going to the ASG anyway. Meaningless game, meaningless minutes. The reason he’s been as good as he has this season is because they’ve managed his playing time well and stuck to a plan and you don’t want to deviate. So there’s your silver lining from an All-Star snub.

Of course, he’ll probably end up replacing the injured Giannis, and back into the ASG that way. But he should have been named a reserve.
