Super Bowl 60: Exploring Random Kalshi Markets, Offbeat Novelty Props, and Big Game Specials
The best part about Super Bowl betting is the variety of offers available. That means if you don’t care one lick about the Patriots or Seahawks, you can wager on a number of novelty props and unique over/unders that don’t necessarily focus on a team or player. Depending on what state you live in, you can bet on Gatorade colors, advertisers, musical performances, and everything in between.
Here’s a look at some of the more interesting offers on Kalshi, New Jersey sports betting apps, and PA sports betting apps.
Kalshi
There are a handful of novelty props surrounding Bad Bunny’s halftime performance.
What song will he open with? Will Marc Anthony or Arcangel join him? How long will the performance last?
You can trade on any length, with the split landing right around 14 minutes currently:
For context, halftime performances typically fall within the 12 to 14 minute range. Ryan Miller at Democrat and Chronicle last year logged the data for the last handful of shows before Kendrick Lamar’s performance:
- Super Bowl 58: Usher – 13 minutes
- Super Bowl 57: Rihanna – 13 minutes
- Super Bowl 56: Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Enimem, etc – 13 minutes
- Super Bowl 55: The Weeknd – 13 minutes
- Super Bowl 54: Shakira, Jennifer Lopez – 14 minutes
- Super Bowl 53: Maroon 5 – 13 minutes
- Super Bowl 52: Justin Timberlake – 13 minutes
- Super Bowl 51: Lady Gaga – 13 minutes
- Super Bowl 50: Coldplay – 13 minutes
- Super Bowl 49:ย Katy Perry – 12 minutes
Another thing to take a look at is prediction markets for which brands will air commercials during the game. All State at 51 cents is intriguing. Netflix and Paramount+ are sitting there at 58 cents while some of the ubiquitous brands like Pepsi are up in the 90 range. The game is on NBC and Telemundo and streaming on Peacock.
(Funny enough, Weird Al Yankovic to appear with Bad Bunny shows up way down at the bottom of the list, at 1%. That would be quite the collaboration, would it not?)
BetMGM
BetMGM is offering Pennsylvania users novelty props on the coin toss outcome and coin toss winner. All four outcomes – heads, tails, Patriots, and Seahawks, are priced at -102.
This one is a coin flip, both literally and figuratively, but the statistics show that tails has landed 31 times and heads 28 times.
SPORTSBOOK
bet365
One of the bets I’m eyeing at bet365 is both teams to complete their first pass attempt at +110. We don’t think either team is gonna come out and take a shot, right? I’d bank on an easy completion, a dump off, something simple to settle both quarterbacks into the game.
I also like the Patriots at +110 to have the first 20+ yardage gain from scrimmage. Seattle was top eight in this department in the regular season, but New England was 2nd in the league with 69 explosive pass plays and #1 with 85 total plays going for at least 20 yards. I’ll take the Pats with the longer odds in this category.
Another good one is Seattle to record the first sack at -150. The Seahawks weren’t some incredible sack team this year, but Drake Maye has been sacked 15 times in three postseason games.
DraftKings
DK has coin toss props in addition to a laundry list of random items, such as “total players to have a pass attempt,” set each year at over/under 2.5.
Believe it or not, this has hit in three of the last four Super Bowls. Last year, Kenny Pickett came in during garbage time and threw one pass. Jauan Jennings had a trick play pass attempt the year prior. And in Super Bowl 56, Cooper Kupp and Joe Mixon both threw pass attempts. Kupp does have a pass attempt for the Seahawks this year, but you’re basically banking on a gadget play at +160 since a garbage time backup QB appearance is iffy to feature anything more than handing the ball off and chewing clock. The under is set at -210.
Likewise, if you think there’s another Philly Special in the cards, you can bet a QB to catch a pass at +1100.
Another thing to consider is the over/under on the jersey number of the first touchdown scorer. It’s set at #10.5. Kenneth Walker and Cooper Kupp wear 9 and 10, while Jaxon Smith-Njigba wears 11. New England has both running backs wearing numbers OVER 10.5, while Drake Maye, Stefon Diggs, and Kayshon Boutte are UNDER 10.5
The over is priced at -160 and the under at +120. Last year, the first TD scorer was Jalen Hurts, #1, then the Cooooooper DeJean pick 6.
