The NHL is Doing an Animated Broadcast with Inside Out Characters
This is pretty cool:
Inside Out is a popular children’s movie. The first one came out in 2015 and the second one in 2024.
The gist is that there’s a young hockey player named Riley, who moves from Minnesota to California and struggles with the relocation. Inside of her mind are the personified emotions of joy, sadness, fear, disgust, and anger, which Flyers fans should be familiar with. Well, not joy, but definitely sadness, fear, disgust, and anger. The movie follows her adaptation while the five emotions are cartoon characters who live in a control center inside of her mind. It’s pretty funny, definitely creative. My daughters watched it at least 25 times.
Whenever there’s an opportunity to do some goofy shit that brings a different audience to the table, that’s a good thing, right? Maybe there’s a little girl out there who likes Inside Out but doesn’t know anything about the NHL. So she watches this broadcast and becomes interested. That’s always the thought.
Plus, the content possibilities are endless. It wasn’t that long ago that we had the Monsters Inc. Eagles vs. Chargers broadcast in which James P. Sullivan picked off Jalen Hurts before getting his shit rocked by Will Shipley and Tyler Steen.
