We’d like to thank Bobby Brink for his service to the Flyers as he heads to Minnesota:

The Flyers had a glut of wingers and Brink was a prime trade candidate.

As for Jiricek, he was the 6th pick in the 2022 draft, taken by the Jackets right after the Flyers selected… Cutter Gauthier. He’s a right-handed defenseman, 6’4″, Czech youth international and 22 years old, traded to the Wild back in 2024. This is a reclamation type of project, bringing in a guy who is dangerously close to being a 1st round bust and seeing if a change of scenery can unlock the potential. Apparently the knock is that the guy can’t skate and doesn’t seem to have NHL-level awareness, so you get him in into Rick Tocchet’s low-event, boring-ass defensive system and try to pull that raw talent out of him.

Either way, the Flyers had to move a winger. They bring back a guy they can work with. Danny B gotta move Risto next.
