That was awesome. Penn, a ten-point underdog, took out Yale in overtime to win the Ivy League tournament and secure their first March Madness bid since 2018:

That’s TJ Power with the trophy and he was incredible in this game. 43 points, 14 rebounds, two assists, a block, and a steal. He shot 14-26 from the floor and 7-14 from three, hitting two in a row from deep in the game’s seven final seconds just to keep the Quakers alive. He then added four more points in the OT period while going a perfect 9-9 from the free throw line despite coming into the game as a 61.2% free throw shooter. He picked a hell of a time to play his best game of the year.

Not only that, but Penn won both games this weekend without Ethan Roberts, who was their leading scorer in the regular season. If he can recover from his concussion symptoms and get clearance to play in the tournament, then the Quakers could be a tough out in the first round. They’ve been a resilient group all season long and won 9 of their last 10 just to be in this position.

Fran McCaffery has done such a good job with Penn in year #1. 18 wins, 11 losses, a trip to the Big 5 final, an Ivy League conference tournament title, and the program’s second NCAA tournament berth since Fran Dunphy departed the program. We’ll have both Villanova and Penn in the tournament this season after a three-year streak with zero Big 5 teams qualifying. Finally, a reason to watch the selection show.

LET’S GO QUAKERS
