According to multiple media reports and court documents, former Philadelphia sports talk host Mike Missanelli today was charged with simple assault and harassment stemming from an alleged incident with his fiancée.

Multiple media outlets have reported the charges stem from a Wednesday, April 8 incident in which the 70-year-old Missanelli allegedly slapped his fiancée during a “scuffle.”

NBC 10 Philadelphia obtained court documents regarding the incident and reported the Lower Merion Police Department was called to a home on Dale Road in the Wynnewood section of Lower Merion Township after midnight on April 8. NBC 10 Philadelphia reported the following:

Missanelli told police that his fiancée had hit him in the chest, officials said.

When speaking with Missanelli’s fiancée, she said the couple had been arguing about their engagement when he open hand slapped her on the left side of her face, the criminal complaint says.

The officer reported seeing what looked like fresh blood on her forehead as well as a laceration and her ear was swelling.

According to a court document, Missanelli is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 22.

Missanelli was a long-time sports talk radio host with 610 WIP and 97.5 the Fanatic. Missanelli left 97.5 the Fanatic in the summer of 2022, only to return in the summer of 2024. He left the station again in August 2025 after a round of cuts at Beasley stations across the country.
