“City Made of Garbage” – Penguins Fans Describe Their Flyers Distaste to an Australian Guy on Reddit

With just a few days to go until the Flyers take on the Penguins in Philly’s first playoff series since 2020, plus decades of animosity built up toward the Pittsburgh fanbase, you probably don’t need any extra ammo to hate Penguins fans — but nevertheless! Pens fans are supplying us some anyway.
Let us now all gather around and read some of the most egregious insults that Pens Reddit mustered up while explaining Flyers/Penguins lore to this Australian guy who asked the following:
For the record, I think Penguins fans using the little penguin emoji while talking about their team look lame as hell. The emoji is not a good one. Doesn’t look penguin-ish. Head’s too round/small.

Let’s leave Rocky out of this, HanTrollo710. Think I may sense some jealousy here. Seems like maybe Trollo is upset because the best movie ever set in Pittsburgh is She’s Out Of My League (2010) starring Jay Baruchel. Good movie, but still. No one is traveling to Pittsburgh to take a picture with a statue of Jay Baruchel.

Do Penguins fans view the Flyers as crybabies? I don’t get this. They’re clearly projecting, right? Because their signature player for the last two decades is notorious for being the biggest crybaby in hockey (and maybe in all of sports?). If you search “Sidney Crosby crybaby” on YouTube, dozens of videos exactly like this appear:
“Traffic cone unis” is objectively nuts. I feel like it’s widely accepted that the Philadelphia Flyers have some of the best jerseys/logo/colors/merch in all of sports. I’m pretty certain of this. This is not a homer take. Believe we all agree.
Anyway, there are plenty more comments just like this on the Penguins subreddit, if you’d like to hop on over there and get more mad. At the end of the day, I just feel bad for the Australian. He’s not getting a balanced, nuanced perspective. I fear he may be led astray. Maybe Flyers fans should jump in there and offer some counterpoints? Respectfully, of course. Something to think about.
