If a piece of video could go into The Louvre, this would be it:

Incredible stuff all around. I totally lost it when the Yinzer woman said “go fucking back to Philly,” off camera. That accent was thicker than your waistline after a Sheetz lunch and Primanti Brothers dinner.

You gotta check out Lordie’s stories on IG for a real treat. He’s got everything from the puck drop to the Yinzers walking out of the building while holding the L.

My favorite story from game 1 was Penguins Jesus pointing out that “an uncomfortable amount” of Flyers fans were in the building:

And then, in a great bit of irony, Josh Yohe fromThe Athletic pointed out, 34 minutes later, that the crowd was awesome. Hmm… I wonder why! Maybe because there was an “uncomfortable amount” of Flyers fans in the building:

Yohe countered by saying the amount of Flyers fans in the house was “very few,” but it didn’t sound that way when Porter Martone scored on a fucking third period laser. Regardless, this proves what I was saying a few days ago when I was rage baiting these Yinzers into a frenzy on social media.* –

Pittsburgh as a sports city cannot do anything big without the help of the opponent. Pitt football cannot sell out Acupuncture Stadium without the help of WVU, Penn State, or Notre Dame fans. They need a bigger school to put butts in seats. Did you even see their College Gameday? It was the worst College Gameday of all time. There were maybe 500 people on hand.

Same with Penguins hockey. They need Flyers fans to schlep out to Yinzerville to create a proper environment inside of PPG Paints Arena. Otherwise you’re getting a medium-quality environment from a medium-sized sports market. Without traveling Flyers fans, the Penguins’ home ice environment is like an ECHL game. There’s more jam in the building for the Florida Everblades vs. the Wheeling Nailers.

GO FLYERS!
